Provera is also used to decrease the risk of endometrial hyperplasia (a condition that may lead to uterine cancer) while taking estrogens. Used for the management and treatment of endometriosism, menopausal vasomotor symptoms, primary &, secondary amenorrhea, dysfunctional (anovulatory) uterine bleeding. May be taken with or without food. Each tablet contains 10 mg of medroxyprogesterone acetate. Interaction with aminoglutethimide. Provera is a progestin hormone used to treat menstrual periods that have stopped, abnormal uterine bleeding and to reduce the chances of getting uterine cancer. PROVERA tablets are indicated for the treatment of secondary amenorrhea and abnormal uterine bleeding due to hormonal imbalance in the absence of organic pathology, such as fibroids or uterine cancer. Medroxyprogesterone is used to treat amenorrhea (unusual stopping of menstrual periods) and abnormal uterine bleeding. It is also used to prevent endometrial hyperplasia (thickening of the lining of the uterus or womb) in women who are taking conjugated estrogens. This medicine is a progestin hormone.
